Crimes Are Committed More Often By Men Than Women

'The well known "WANTED" posters show up on walls, with faces of criminal males' 

 The co-existence of men and women is a spectacular facet of the world which has embellished life, it’s actuality and the perception of existence on the face of Earth. However, another element of this exquisite aspect is the complexities that it has created in the many phases of life, one of which is crime. On one hand, sociologists claim that male crime rate affirms that women are superior, whereas on the other hand, some profess women as the sole source who provoke and arouse in men the will and desire to commit crimes.

Women are generally considered to commit crimes in a significantly lesser percentage in comparison to men. Although this idea is widely accepted and well-established, the reasons behind it are rarely assessed. In this sense, if the reason behind the difference in tendencies to commit crimes is to be assessed, important differences between men and women must be determined.

To establish this fact, statistical data regarding offences and crimes must first be analyzed. In one case, wherein youths were the main focus, it has been estimated that the number of male offenders for a given span of time was several times more than the number of female offenders. In fact, 80%of the offenders were males.

One reason for this could be that males are more aggressive than females and that females are not necessarily less aggressive, but they tend to show their aggression in less overt, less physical ways. Women commit fewer crimes because of the cultural set-up and are expected to respect their cultural values and society norms. Therefore, committing any crime means shame in society, and also because women can content themselves better than men. Another rationale could be social control and socialization as women are brought up differently, with tender care.

Men are more likely to commit crimes because their goals and aspirations are different from those of women, and are more difficult to accomplish. If women aim at domesticity and men material wealth, the strain to get these things is more acutely felt by men because domesticity is more easily attainable. Consequently, the stress men are under results in them committing more crimes.

Gender is the single best predictor of criminal behavior, men commit more crimes and women commit fewer. This distinction holds throughout History, for all societies and all groups. Women are less prone to criminal activity because of emotional sensitivity. Females have an apparently low level of offending and pose less of a social threat than their male counterparts and their delinquencies.
