A Day In Italy.

Contributed by Hafsa Umair

Dear Lexie,

Hi, how’s it going? You remember I told you last week
that I had volunteered for the student exchange
programme which was held in our school?

The place they chose this year was Italy, and I went over
the moon when I heard this. It was music to my ears.
Veince, Italy

Well, today I flew to Italy in the early morning! I was
really excited for this trip as I had never been to Italy
and I was truly looking forward to experiencing the
serene life in Italy. I had my baggage all set since the
night before and would recheck my list of ‘things to
be packed’ to make sure I had not left out anything.
The journey passed in excitement and enthusiasm as I
kept on thinking to myself how pleasurable this would
be! My stay was in Rome, one of the world’s greatest
historical and most beautiful cities of art. I had become
a temporary student of the British School at Rome.
It was a well known school and I for one had always
imagined what it would be like to study there. School
didn’t start till the day after tomorrow so after two
hours of rest I seized a notebook and a pen, and set off
to sight-seeing. I had my private tour guide which the

program itself had offered me and he was one amazing
guide. He took me to all the breathtaking places in
Rome, so I could take snapshots and make notes if I
wished. First I visited the Colosseum and the Arch of
Constantine. They both were simply grand and I was
amazed when I learned the history behind them. I took
out my notebook and began to write.

The Colosseum
“Colosseum: gigantic stadium with one side bitten
off. Arch of Constantine: huge wall with a big arch
(pointless), where did rest of the building go?” I moved
on to a small restaurant and I ate some ‘spaghetti alla
carbonara’ the famous roman dish. I pulled out my
notebook and wrote: “Spaghetti alla carbonara: more
like spaghetti alla tasteless.” While eating, a street
bambino (child) who possessed quite a talent in playing
the violin came and offered to provide us with some
entertainment. I got lost in the music he played. The
melody was beautiful and made everything seem so
romantic. Later on, I went to the Villa Borghese gardens
and the botanical gardens. The fragrance of flowers
filled the air and the wet grass and verdant trees laid
an even greater affect on the gardens. The Vatican

Museums were filled with a number of ornaments and
each and every one of them had a fascinating history
behind them. I did not have enough strength to carry
on my sight-seeing so I paused, until the next day of
course!

Before heading back to my rest house, I stopped at an
antique shop packed with accessories. I had a swift
look over the items and picked out two of my favourite
things; an ancient amuleto (amulet) and an anello
(a ring). The ring had the words ‘Ti Amo’ (I love you)
carved on it. I was welcomed with some refreshments
at the rest house and I was also given free dinner since
I was just a student. After having dinner, I explored the
rest house which seemed more of a medieval castle to
me. It had huge rooms, flower-trailed balconies, and a
garden with few rivulets that flowed into River Tiber.
After every few minutes, I would stop for a while and
just gasp at all of the magnificent sceneries in front of
River Tiber
my very eyes. I spent some time sitting near a fountain
and gazing at the night sky filled with stars. While I did
so, I realized that being here in Italy, was a dream come
true for me. I felt exuberant the whole time I explored

it, without a hitch of boredom. It was an adventure for
me, and it has just begun. For tomorrow is yet another
day for me to go out there and enjoy the time I have in
Italy to its greatest intensity!

Sweet Dreams Lexie!

Inner Workings Of A Secluded Mind

Mustafa Fahim

A2C1

As I lay there, in the corner, the darkness surrounds me, engulfing me in itself, trying to fill the gaping hole left inside of me. As much as I despise this melancholy, ironically it has been my closest companion in the most dreadful hours, my only ray of hope in the gloomiest of times and my single mode of peace for the inner sanctions of my destructive mind.

At first everything was perfect and I thought nothing can ruin this, but alas the atrocious wheel of fate turned and obliterated my life. I get numb just thinking about that moment, the sheer horror in my heart reached new levels when I heard the dreaded news. It was as if the sky suddenly decided to fall down on me. And the worst part of it, the society and that despicable plastic smile one has to put on in front of it, when in reality the person is unfathomably shattered inside. This forced hypocrisy is the most sadistic part of all.

Solitude is my only companion now, it has always been there to make me feel human again, but now not even desolation is comforting my tarnished feelings. There is no hope for me now. What have I done to deserve this?

"Lights go out and I can't be saved,
tides that I tried to swim against,
you've put me down on my knees,
oh I beg, I beg and plead,
come out of things unsaid, shoot an apple off my head." - Clocks - Coldplay

Featured Pafians 1.1

Starring: Syed Fares Ather and Umama Qadri.

Interviewee: Syed Fares Ather
Interview by: Maheen Farooqi
Date: 26th October’ 2012

Heard of the Pafian who won at UNSC ROTMUN 2012?
YES, he won an honorable mention at SECURITY COUNCIL!

Here's to the guy who won't eat from the 'Thela waalas', would drive under the speed of 30km/hours and MUN like a K3Wlx Dude xD

Syed Fares Ather-Ms.Carol's favorite :)

1. How did you feel when your name was announced as the achiever of the honorable mention?

It was fairly overwhelming, to be honest. The intensity of competitiveness in the Security Council was staggering; I did not quite conceive the idea of winning an award. To have attained an honorable mention in the UNSC, as trifling as that maybe, was a definite source of contentment for me. A memorable moment.
2. Your committee was security council. Having won an award in this council do you feel that it is overrated?

I wouldn’t say so. The Security Council pushes one to the absolute edge. It’s a high-speed, fast-paced and highly dynamic committee in general; therefore, the SC duly deserves the reputation it has garnered in the world of MUN’s.

3.ROTMUN is one of the most prestigious MUN's of Karachi. While preparing for ROTMUN did you set a goal of winning an award? How did you prepare for it?

ROTMUN is a venerated and prominent event, and is considered to be an integral part of the MUN-ing circuit in Pakistan. The idea of participating in ROTMUN was slightly intimidating; nevertheless, I perceived it as a challenge. Evidently, everyone aspires to achieve victory, and strive for success. I didn’t think differently. As far as preparation is concerned, it is crucial to thoroughly explore the topic and area under discussion, but that being said and done; the heads of the Public Speaking Society put in a lot of effort and exhibited unconditional commitment towards readying us for ROTMUN. I, for one, couldn’t have asked for more.

4.How do you feel this MUN differed from all other MUNs?

I cannot accurately compare ROTMUN with other MUN’s, as this was only the second MUN conference I had the pleasure of participating in. Having said that, the level of debate was phenomenal; moreover, it was a remarkable learning experience for me, and well worth giving it my time.

5. What advice would you like to give to other MUNers out there?

I don’t believe I’m in a position to fittingly give advice to other MUN-ers. I, myself, am still learning the tricks of the trade. However, what I’ve learnt from my negligible experience in the world of MUN’s; one should be able to think on their feet, analyse evolving circumstances adeptly, and support their argument, with facts and figures, yes, but more so with logic and tactful rationality.

Ms. Umama Qadri. What comes to mind when you hear that name? Well, its a no-brainer.
Some may think, netball champion. Others might recall, throw ball to be her sport. When in fact this girl has turned numerous games into 'her' games. Recently she was named the 'Player of the Match' in the Netball tournament in which PAF Chapter's team did a fantastic job.
So why not get the inside scoop on one of Chapter's most valued gems!
And girls, you might want to read on. I even asked Umama how she keeps herself from getting tanned. ;)

Q. Since when have you been playing?

Ans. I started playing in the 6th grade and I began to take part in national and international competitions a year later when I got into the 7th grade.

Q. What do you consider as your biggest win to date?

Ans. I won the Benazir Bhutto award for being Sindhs best player. Along with the award I received a cash prize of one lac rupees.

Q. Wow. That's quite a win. Any other cash prizes which you received?

Ans. I got 50,000 rupees for another competition. Also, as I used to play under contract of the Pakistan army I was paid 7000 rupees per month. i am very proud of what I have achieved until now and only want it to go further and earn even more.

Q. Any upcoming competitions which you will be taking part in?

Ans. There's the National Games in Lahore which will take place in January. Hoping that those will go well for me as well.

Q. All the girls might be interested in this one. Why don't you get tanned!?

Ans. *laughs* I try and keep my complexion as it is by using quite a few treatments. I use things such as tomatoes, yoghurt, turmeric, milk with lemon, 'basin' and 'jau ka aata'.

Q. Do you think your passion for sports takes a toll on your studies?

Ans. Yes, well my studies do get effected but I am usually able to cover up the lessons which I have missed hence it doesn't really prove to be much of an issue at the end of the day.

Q. If you weren't playing sports, what would you be doing?

Ans. Nothing. I wouldn't replace sports for ANYTHING. Apart from the sports which I pursue I also play basketball at a school level but netball is my top priority and can not be replaced by any sport or activity.

Q. What does the future have in store for Umama Qadri?

Ans. Well, I want a Masters in Physical Education followed by a job which hopefully I will be doing at a government post.

Q. One thing we all want to know, Have you EVER lost anything in your entire sports career?

Ans. Yes, my nails. :(

"MAGNIFICATION. AMPLIFICATION. EXAGGERATION"

NOWADAYS IT'S A PIECE OF CAKE TO COOK UP A JUICY STORY. THE SECRET INGREDIENT YOU ASK? READ ON AND FIND OUT...

By: Marium Parekh
A1S2

If I stand here and say that after the 1921 Wall Street crash, suicide rates increased in the U.S, U.K and
Japan it doesn’t sound too catchy. Does it? But if I say that fortune-losing Wall Street Bankers leapt to
their deaths during the 1929 crash, I’m sure many of you would perk up your ears.

Just like the way you’d prefer a glass of chilled lemonade to a glass of water on a hot, humid day,
gossips, rumors and hearsay appeal more to our ears, just like thirst-quenching, chilled soft drink and
crispy fries taste better with red tomato ketchup, conversations, stories and news surely taste better
with that touch of exaggeration. We live in a world where every being circulates around things having
that layer of artificiality on it, making it more enticing, more attractive and more than appealing.

As soon as the scandal starts circulating, the TV channel exaggerating it the most will get the highest
reviewer ratings because all we want is that pinch of intrigue and suspense like that glass of chilled
lemonade is more likely to quench our curiosity than plain glass of water. It’s surely the real scenario but
undoubtedly it’s sad. The recent devastating fire incident in a factory in Karachi gave roots to a million
rumors. The more they appeared, the more we hogged to our TV screens, even though we all realize
that beneath all the takes lies the bare fact that simply goes un-noticed in the frenzy that revolves
around.

I can tell you all here I lost my cell phone in a park in the past, but I know that if I elongated the story by
adding that I noticed a man following me and umm, I really do think I saw an intelligence badge on his
clothes and even more, he had disappeared later. I then noticed I didn’t have my cell phone. All this will
earn me limelight for sure.

If Apple was releasing Iphone 6, but adds that it has the newest technology and apps never seen before,
you are most likely to log on to its website to see more for yourself. A cricket match between India
and Pakistan would be incomplete without that thrill of watching the two teams stare at each other
menacingly and a cold war boiling between any two players..all this adds to the excitement and drama
to make us watch every moment of it attentively.

Another example could be Models and brides wearing makeup, dramatist using hyperbole in their plays,
history having more fiction than facts because we the audience are human and mankind had always
been susceptible to falling for that glitter and sparkle that makes life less bland and more adventurous.
And oh yes! The part about people leaping off buildings in 1929 was simply a statement to gain
attention.

A little example of the common exaggerated expression for being "shocked or alarmed", would'nt  look  this convincing without the added effect of eye balls stretched out of their sockets eh? :P

Pafians at ROTMUN 2012.

Usman Baig
Editor at The Student Blog.

ROTMUN 2012 was an awe-inspiring experience. An amazing venture with its own flavor. It
had its own hardships, own goals, own levels and its own beauty.

It was one of the best learning experiences one could ever ask for. And I’m lucky enough to
experience such an honorable event in such an early stage of my life. But what was the ROTMUN 2012 experience all about? Well honestly, all the hype created before we had even decided to take part in the event seemed like ROTMUN is going to be no less than a huge massacre, stomping the weak and only the very best could prevail. But guess what, that’s what actually happened!

The topics which were allotted to us were none less than pure jargon. Something for which we never thought we would use Google. But as they say, when there is a will there is a way, and our amazing participants, along with our extremely capable heads proved that nothing is impossible, everything was achievable and in grasp of those who had the spirit to succeed.

The four days of ROTMUN at Carlton Hotel will remain alive in our memories forever. All the wrinkles on the forehead, sweat trickling down the face, mind swollen with immense pressure and the nose detecting the smell of victory, all senses used to be engaged altogether in order to do the unthinkable, the extra ordinary, to be on top and pave way for bringing the awards home. Yes, to bring them at PAF Chapter A-Levels.

Our delegation won Seven individual awards on the whole, with 4 honorary mentions and 3 best position papers. But who actually made it possible?

On behalf of all the delegates, I would pay my heartiest gratitude to the Heads of the Public Speaking Society, Namely Moaaz Sidat, Khushhal Nadir, Ramsha Wasti and all the amazing seniors who were there as role models throughout, their list goes on. It was because of their grooming mainly which made us beginners good enough to achieve what we actually did. And not to forget, our Headmistress Ma'am Shireen Karamally who was as strong as a pillar throughout.

The training which we received prior to the competition was the reason why we were able to
display our true potential to the limits. Looking forward to participate in upcoming events,
with the help of our heads and by the grace of God, we shall bring all the awards home, to
PAF Chapter A-Levels.

Your one sweet word can do wonders!

Marium Parekh

Last night, as I was questioning why exactly I needed to be on this earth, my phone rang. I contemplated answering before I finally picked it up. As I answered, I discovered it was my younger brother. He called me at 2:30 a.m. He asked: How are you? I thought of telling him the truth of feeling hopeless, useless, sad, lonely, hurt, suicidal, screaming, pathetic, misunderstood, pessimistic, crushed, worthless, numb, offended, lifeless, incapable, shaky and bruised. But as I was about to start he told me that he had called me just to tell me how much he loves me, and that I am one of the most important people in his life. We aren't related by blood but it's something even stronger which keeps us connected and that's love!
Just a minute ago I was trying to find an answer to the query of how many tylenol do I need to take in order to free myself from the dramas life creates each day. But his call surely rescued me from the darkness of such insanity (that's what I call it now). Those were originally not the dramas life created but the ones I fabricated.
With time I have realized that part of being young is making mistakes. But what's important is that we grow and gain lessons from these experiences.. lessons which we can never gain any way else. Since then whenever life messes up, I always make sure of not ending up with that long face and shallow thoughts of giving up. My life has taught me that nobody would wait for us, there comes a point when everybody moves on.. what you need to do is ensure you move with the world too. Along with that we need to help others in doing so as well.
Always try that you express your love, share your enthusiasm, take actions towards your dreams, walk your talk, embrace your blessings and make each day worth remembering! Thinking of life as useless and giving up are the characteristics of cowards!
And now At least I'm not One! :D

‘A Dialogue - Experiences at PAKMUN’

Interviewee: Muhammad Asin Iqbal
Interview by: Sarmad Pirzada
Duration: 10 minutes
Date: 10th October’ 2012

Meet M.Asim Iqbal :D
Q: Greetings Sir. How are you and how have you been doing lately?
A: Hello there. I am absolutely fine and doing great these days!

Q: You were the sole representative of The City School PAF Chapter at the event; can
you please put forward a little light over the happenings of the event?
A: The event took place at the ‘Pakistan American Culture Centre’ which was a four day episode. First day was a mere introductory affair of six hours and the rest of the
three days were a composite of social events and debating.

Q: Which country and committee did you follow?
A: The country I represented was Algeria and committee was ‘ECOFIN’.

Q: You must have been uptight there, all on your own; how was it? Did you feel the beads of perspiration at just any point?
A: (laughs). No actually it was nice to be alone up there on my own.

Q: So tell me about the event, was it monotonous for the rest of the three days or every day seemed more interesting?
A: As far as my committee is concerned, the event was awesome however there were certain rough aspects and points due to the social event.

Q: Walk me through an example of a specific situation when you felt awkward or strange.
A: Firstly, I never felt awkward however while putting up the draft resolution and answering the opposition, I felt off the beat.

Q: What awards did you win? And what was the feeling with respect to that?
A: I won an honorary mention at PAKMUN which is the third best title given to the delegates. I wasn’t surprised really; I had this feeling of victory through out the course of event that the award is mine. You know, it’s like the more you participate, the more you win.

Q: Will you like to re attend the event next year?
A: No. Firstly because the factual reason is that I wouldn’t be here in Pakistan, secondly, even if I’d been in Pakistan I would have never participated because of the unethical behavior of the organizing committee.

Q: Did the level of the event meet your expectations?
A: Yes. Mostly it did if we consider the debating side only..

Q: A moment worth remembering?
A: The moment my name was called to acknowledge me as the winner of the honorary mention, I stood up as the most famous delegate and felt that this is the moment worth remembering!

Q: Twenty years from now on, how will you remember the PAKMUN?
A: I will remember it as a 50% success and 50% disaster!

Q: What advice would you give to the new MUN.ners?
A: Research well. If you don’t have a famous country, use it as your dual quality and be confident. Believe in yourself and the victory is yours!

Q: What did you learn from this event?
A: If you’re hosting an event host it well, and you should have confidence and the passion to speak while participating!

This air, supposed to be full of freedom but I still feel like a slave,
I thought they fought for us, the older ones, the wise and the brave.

I'm talking about the money you spent on the smoke, it just turns into ashes,
spend that money on a poor instead, satisfaction for the hearts of all classes.

It's peace against the hatred, do you have what it takes to fight?
Different province, different language, what would it take to unite?

Watching movies all night but closing our eyes when we hear the call for prayer,
We ask the God to help us but if we don't care then why should He care.

The ones who hate the West, go and show them how strong you are as a nation,
Instead of just fighting and crying and dying and criticizing the precious relation.

Hey Mr. Corruption, have a nice day, I still think you're pretty safe at your seat,
'Cause there's no action, I can hear them talking and talking and that's all they repeat.

But my security's a question mark, another Boom! And the whole street will turn red,
But we don't care, it's just everyday matter for us because we're already dead.

And where is it written, to be in heaven, you need to create hell on the earth?
It doesn't sound like a brain wash, it's like they don't have a brain since birth.

But I should thank the ones they call terrorists for giving popularity to my nation worldwide,
the thing that would've been done by the ones who run abroad and the ones who love to hide.

Uh oh! again it's all complains, so let me add here one thing more,
I love to be among my people though little messed up, though little insecure.
But I still call you my brother and I still call it my home,
I’m still gonna stand so proud and I hope I'm not alone.
I'm still aiming for the stars, I still got some big dreams,
And whatever it takes, I'm gonna wave the color green...

An act of kindness :)

Happiness. What does it mean to you ?
For some, It might be to pass in their Exams. For some, it might be to get a new phone. For some, it might be to go out with friends. And for some, it might be to see others destruct :)
But have you ever pondered over the fact that what does happiness mean to those who are deprived of this blessing ?
A group of enlightened students from our school, The PAF chapter A level section, did a remarkable job this past week.

After Mam Shireen's heart stopping lecture on the values of the deprived about all those blessings which we take for granted, referring to the shameful act of disrespecting valuable food (Cake to be precise), this group of students decided to take a step forward and start an initiative.
Out of all the 700 A level wards, these were the few who actually thought of doing at least something for the domestic staff in our school who may not be in the limelight but are always the reason for our success.
These days, when we celebrate birthdays in schools or anywhere else, cake is not used for eating, rather it is used for giving each other facials, and without cake spread all over your clothes, face, and everything else surrounding you, a birthday is never complete, Is it? And then, these domestic are the people who wipe off all the cake, calculating at the back of their head about how much time has passed since they have had a bite of something as sweet as cake, or how much would have they supported their families with the money wasted on it.
But it is something to be proud of, having such students in our school, respecting the values of people and treating them as their own. A lesson to be learned for sure.
Spreading happiness and caring for others can set even the worst possible problems in a society on a straight path. So the next time when you want to know what real happiness is, look into the eyes of someone who actually needs it. :)

Grass is always greener on the other side, if it's not too long!

“Grass is always greener on the other side, if it’s not too long”

It never fails to surprise me how the human heart works. At one point you couldn't care less about them and the next moment they're all you care about. Funny? Not very much! Because in life you won't always be as fortunate as they portray in movies and fiction. The world is cruel and it will hit you when you least expect it, in ways you've never even imagined. It owes you nothing and can take whatever you have in the blink of an eye, no negotiation, no compensation, and no explanation. Be prepared for the worst and it will find a way to not only fulfill your expectations but exceed them. So life will be difficult, established. But if you want to find a way to avoid the heartbreaks, the pain and the anger, I'll help you figure it out.

There is no way.

We're only human, aren't we? Bound to trip and fall. Bound to fail at some point, and to succeed at others. Nothing is calculated, estimated nor can be predicted. We conjure up our own stories. If only we understood that. If only we understood that everything can be changed. If good doesn't come to you, take yourself to it. Find yourself in the darkest of places and be thankful there's even a single speck of light obtruding from a corner. Be thankful you have something to smile about. Something to be grateful for. Something that someone else might just be praying day and night for. Something you don't even consider special. Because you never know. You just never know.

Look at the bright side.
Just always look up.
Think hard and think long.

There's ALWAYS going to be something that over-rides all the ugly. Life's too short to get caught up in this enigma. Problems shall stay stagnant, they will be there. You can't expect a perfect life. Nor hope for one, as perfection is unattainable. Happiness, however, isn't. Why not settle for the possible instead of aiming for the unapproachable? Why not just stop worrying, stop voluntarily entangling ourselves in these webs that make us pay a price we did not agree upon? These webs that may entangle us forever.

Think of it this way. You aren't alone. You have the rest of the world with you. We get angry and we get scared. We cry and we hate. We feel hopeless and we feel shattered. And at one point, we find ourselves completely alone. Like nobody would ever understand the measure of our problems. Well, we're all alone, together. Just dust it off and move on. Another predicament will soon walk your way and you and only you can decide how to face it. To stand in it's way and say 'you can't break me' or fall down, give up and feel like all hope is gone. NOTHING is big enough to break you. No problem severe enough to kill your spirit. Find the silver lining. Live your days so you can be proud of them. An existence with heaps of mistakes, yet no regrets. Nobody can say they've lived a complete life. But they can say they've tried. And so will you!

Remember taking your first step and stumbling? That was your first mistake. And from that moment on life became a continuing chain of mistakes and lessons. We're never old enough to stop making mistakes, never old enough to stop learning.

Forever young and foolish we remain!

The most complex complexity- Women!

The most complex complexity- WOMEN!

Women. God’s most complicated creation. Conceived the same way as us men, with 23 pairs of chromosomes and with the basic DNA formation, what makes her so difficult to understand? So today I, a 17 year old lad, if not lying then 18 year old will take a shot at understanding this genetically XX determined creature.

Starting from the most vital role she plays in a man’s life; being his mother. The woman, who gives him birth, brings him into the world and nurtures him till the day he needs her to.

"The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new." ~Rajneesh

The one person who cares for him the most on the planet is her. The reason is simple; the child is a part of her. It can be pretty annoying having her walk around in circles behind you, worried, that you might need her, when you are independent enough to nail it yourself. But what we really miss out is her undying love that refuses to fade away with time and space. She scolds you too. Even beats you up in South Asia; because she wants to make sure you don’t hurt yourself. It’s rather silly, beating up your child so he doesn't get hurt from the world. But the bottom-line is, a mother’s beating is a token of love and is only meant to make you stronger, so cherish it because there’s a mother for every child but not all stick around.

And then you grow up. Come out of your mother’s caresses and see woman as rather woo-man. She appeals to you. It’s either infatuation or lust but in simple words she becomes attractive to you in a very non-platonic way, and you like it. You confess your love to her and she is indecisive probably because one of your kinds didn’t treat her well. But once she is sure about you, you mean the world to her. And then comes the misery. She talks her heart out to you and eats away your brain. She empties your credit card and is doubtful about all your female friends. Irritating, isn’t it? But if you look beneath all the gloom, she’s just afraid of losing you. Considering herself not good enough for you. So concluding, make her feel she’s irreplaceable and you are good to go.

The woman that can’t understand YOU is your daughter! You look out for her, protect her and don’t want her to fall for the kind of guy you were like in your days. She’s young and juvenile and thinks you are over-doing it. And wants you to believe that no matter who she’ll be in love with, you’ll be her first ever hero. So give her that space she needs. Come on! She is YOUR daughter after all.

Hence, bringing it to a close. I believe woman are less complicated then we blame them for. Actually we just fail to accept that they are very important to us and our existence is incomplete without them. But still, remaining loyal to my kind I confidently believe that women cannot be understood.

How To Spot A Pafian. =D

Written by our Vice President..

Student Blog presents..

HOW TO SPOT A PAFIAN! :D

1. Painted Converse.

Although the painted converse found at Chapter are not as good as these, but you get the point no ? :D
2. A Huge Wrist Band Collection.

Even if a Pafian doesn't own any band at all. He/She will still have a TCF or an 'I Am Pakistan' band. :)
3. Doesn't miss an opportunity to start hooting.
(Proof for this is even found at the 'serious' Morning Assemblies of Monday and Thursday :p)

4. Hating Nixor, no matter what.

You have to be a Pafian to understand this picture :D
Still don't get it ?
Well, visit Pafian Tips :)

Is a world free, of the senseless violence and carnage that has plagued human life since the dawn of time possible?
This has been a favorite question for philosophers and thinkers over the ages.

If one were an extraterrestrial being, able to peer through the mists of time and take a cursory look through human history, since the time of our barbaric hunter ancestors to the modern iPhone wielding hipsters. It would not take long to realize that the story of humans is a story of progress. Admittedly it’s not all a fairy tale, with long bouts of utter depravity and retardation, but on the whole humanity has come a long way. We wouldn't fault our fictitious alien friend for concluding that this is a species hell-bent of exterminating its own.

But such is not the case, modern man doesn't lash out in belligerent outrage if someone takes a look at his mate, but such behavior would have been quite normal in prehistoric times. It might quite possible been have grounds for a feud between two tribes that would go on for centuries. Such actions do seem ridiculous today. And if we compare the violence rate of today and times long gone, according to anthropologists like Steven Pinker, violence has decreased over the centuries, as tribal battles were more frequent and bloody than their modern counterparts. It may seem delusional to say this, as we still are reeling from the atrocities committed by Hitler and Mao but no matter how counter intuitive it may seem we are becoming more gentle and civilized. No matter how much the Karachi-ites may disagree!

Soon enough we will unlock the power of nuclear fusion, a limitless source of energy. We have been successful in eradicating Smallpox one of the most virulent diseases in history and the list seems to be growing. Coupled with genetic engineering and robotics there is no end in sight for human development. Spatial constraints restrict me from elaborating the nuances but I think it wouldn't be far-fetched to say that a utopia or something closely resembling one is quite possible.

The best entries were selected to be published at the blog. So, what you're going to read below is a masterpiece conjured up by the Journalism Society. Enjoy.

In just three weeks after the starting of the Academic Year 2012-2013 The City School PAF Chapter community had something to be excited about. The City School is very well known to enroll most active students and the enthusiasm showcased on 24th September, when students enjoyed campaigning for their favorite nominees, clearly seconds that. This year would truly be cherished because all the candidates gave a tough time, from the nominations to the final selections, from the campaigning to each and every stage the Election Fever. There were total of ten nominees overall for the post of School Head (five for boys and five for girls).

“I had a really tough time selecting nominees but whether they lose or win, they will surely be given credits for making it this far, being selected from so many is an achievement on its own.” - shares the principal Ms. Shireen Karamally. The three-day Elections initially started on 20th September (Thursday) when PAFians caught the first glimpse of nominees in their own words. Each had something strong to say about themselves, they excited the audiences with powerful speeches and to top it all off they expressed their views in the most charming manner. Most of them gained supporters then and there.

The official campaign took place on 24th September (Monday) and so the corridors were filled with flashy poster, badges and banners. The last two periods were primarily kept for campaigning but the preparations had begun long before that. Students thoroughly enjoyed every minute of campaigning with badges, well thought-out slogans, flash mobs and creative ideas all over the place. Indeed there were positive signs of good sportsmanship. Facebook proved to be an excellent source of additional campaigning and further added to the entertainment.

The 'flooded' ground as the rallies carry on.

Voting took place on 25th September (Tuesday) where through a systematic, sophisticated and an organized way students filed in one by one and cast their votes. By the end of the day Mehraz Khan & Zeest Hassan and Ali Makati & Anusha Khalid had something to celebrate about as the well deserved candidates were elected as the Heads and Deputy Heads of the school.

The “Three-Day” Elections were sealed for the academic session by Oath Taking Ceremony of the newly elected student government. The heads , deputies along with prefects and society heads took promise to not only fulfill their duties and responsibilities with full hard work, dedication, determination and honesty but to give back for all the life changing moment this great school made it possible

The Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy, Deputy Head Girl and House Captains with the Prefects.
