Zabmun *sigh*
That is a sigh of happiness, just by the way, if you know it is. On sunday, at the closing ceremony of Zabmun VII, The City School PAF Chapter was announced the 3rd Best Delegation at the conference, finishing behind IBA and Lyceum, by the slightest of margins. I stress on the word 'slightest' because the points difference was five points from 1st place and only one from 2nd place.
Nonetheless, a superb performance by our delegations. On behalf of the Student Blogging Team, I congratulate all of the delegates (ALL OF THEM), the PSS council, their trainer and the whole of The City School PAF Chapter on this latest addition to our successes. Chalk it up, people, and leave some room, because I'm sure our MUNNERs are just warming up. Lets give you all an inside report on the happenings at Zabmun VII, the highs and lows, everything.
First of all, lets talk about the People's trainer, the man at the top, Yelmaz Mujtaba. It cannot be denied that ever since Yelmaz offered his services to the PSS, the Society has been moving in only one direction, Up. However, with all that in mind, I have only one point of criticism, the motto. Apparently, as told by a delegate (Yes, there is a mole in the PSS), the motto Yelmaz gave to the delegations was "This is our year". Hmmmm. Now, it is an established fact that Yelmaz is a Liverpool fan. But seriously? This is our year? Liverpool have been using that motto for so many years, and with it, in the last two decades, they've won the same number of League titles as I have. ZERO! Makes you wonder if he chose a different motto, maybe our delegation would have been No.1. Oh well, it was just a 'slip', right Yelmaz? *Winks* *In case, you're wondering, yes I'm a United fan.*
Zabmun kicked off with the opening ceremony on the 9th of October, and the welcome video was greeted with a roar from the Pafian crowd when on came the segment of a PAF Chapter alumni, Usman Baig. Throughout the minute long playback of his speech, our delegates showed that warm feeling of love and respect. Must have been a confidence booster for all who call the Redbricks their second home.
Now the sessions, and we all will hear how our delegates rocked the conference and how they managed to bash and beat the likes of Nixor, KGS and other top notch teams, but one thing you might not hear is the interesting crisis that was presented in the IAEA. It was said that Taaliban have taken over Pakistan's nuclear supplies (It's a Jewish Conspiracy) and their first target would be the BLO headquarters. BLO stands for Bilawal Lovers Organisation. Well, that's very...religious of them, you know, the Taaliban. Striking at the place of BLO's job, you know.
The entertainment sessions, and who could represent PAF Chapter better than the man with an entire facebook page to his name. Yes people, our very own Mr.Lame-O, *drumroll* Usama Khawar. In his committee's entertainment session, Usama was asked to be a stand up comedian. Piece of cake, as Usama left the room in chills with his thanday jokes. Here are some of his masterpieces:
- "I was planning on becoming a stand comedian...but then I realised I'm way too lazy to stand up for that long."
- *His chair's name was Govinda Hira.* "Is there anyone named Hira here? 'Cause I wanna go-win-the Hira."
I have more, but we bloggers have to follow an ethical code which says "NO TORTURE". Admins of 'Khawar Ki Chussein', contact me for more.
One man who experienced both, highs and lows, was senior PSS member, Imad Aleem. As reported, Imad was cruising towards the Best Delegate award. But had to settle for an Honourable Mention, because apparently, the man did not draft a resolution. So close, Imad. So close. On a personal level though, Imad was flattered. Just like in PAFMUN earlier this year, Imad was a hot topic during the chit passing, with girls making frequent comments about his 'body temperature'. Damn, Imad. Last year, you were called cute. and now, this. Its a good thing you won't be around next year, warna to...*raises eyebrows* *controls the mind and gets back to work*
Apart from all the nonsense and inside gossip I just mentioned, Zabmun truly was an amazing experience for the delegates. The wave of facebook statuses and pictures that followed the results was an encouraging sight. Seniors congratulating juniors, alumnis joining in, the pictures showing the bonds between the People, everything was exactly like how you see in a close knit family. Lets hope this family gels even further, and brings forth more success to PAF Chapter. Take it all in PSS, it's your moment. Cheers.
