| Meet M.Asim Iqbal :D |
A: Hello there. I am absolutely fine and doing great these days!
Q: You were the sole representative of The City School PAF Chapter at the event; can
you please put forward a little light over the happenings of the event?
A: The event took place at the ‘Pakistan American Culture Centre’ which was a four day episode. First day was a mere introductory affair of six hours and the rest of the
three days were a composite of social events and debating.
Q: Which country and committee did you follow?
A: The country I represented was Algeria and committee was ‘ECOFIN’.
Q: You must have been uptight there, all on your own; how was it? Did you feel the beads of perspiration at just any point?
A: (laughs). No actually it was nice to be alone up there on my own.
Q: So tell me about the event, was it monotonous for the rest of the three days or every day seemed more interesting?
A: As far as my committee is concerned, the event was awesome however there were certain rough aspects and points due to the social event.
Q: Walk me through an example of a specific situation when you felt awkward or strange.
A: Firstly, I never felt awkward however while putting up the draft resolution and answering the opposition, I felt off the beat.
Q: What awards did you win? And what was the feeling with respect to that?
A: I won an honorary mention at PAKMUN which is the third best title given to the delegates. I wasn’t surprised really; I had this feeling of victory through out the course of event that the award is mine. You know, it’s like the more you participate, the more you win.
Q: Will you like to re attend the event next year?
A: No. Firstly because the factual reason is that I wouldn’t be here in Pakistan, secondly, even if I’d been in Pakistan I would have never participated because of the unethical behavior of the organizing committee.
Q: Did the level of the event meet your expectations?
A: Yes. Mostly it did if we consider the debating side only..
Q: A moment worth remembering?
A: The moment my name was called to acknowledge me as the winner of the honorary mention, I stood up as the most famous delegate and felt that this is the moment worth remembering!
Q: Twenty years from now on, how will you remember the PAKMUN?
A: I will remember it as a 50% success and 50% disaster!
Q: What advice would you give to the new MUN.ners?
A: Research well. If you don’t have a famous country, use it as your dual quality and be confident. Believe in yourself and the victory is yours!
Q: What did you learn from this event?
A: If you’re hosting an event host it well, and you should have confidence and the passion to speak while participating!
