Chapter Tales #2

Every year, the sacred tradition takes place in the PAF chapter's ground, when the seniors
ceremoniously welcome the new comers to give them a true sense of the Pafian spirit. Ideally,
the event is held when the new comers are, well, newcomers. Ideally, its a party dedicated for
welcoming these newcomers, ideally, that is.

In a long twist of events, the welcome got postponed to early November, rather than early
October. But the story doesn't end there. The biggest dilemma was what to call it? Welcome?
Eid milan? Bonfire? Halloween? Weloween? No one had the faintest idea, except for our
headmistress of course. She swoop in the midst of the confusion and settled the dust with
this; Welcome com Eid Milan come Halloween. In other words, welcome com you-name-
it. There, finally we knew. A Welcome com Halloween com... You know the story. So much for
Weloween.

But what's in a name right? The party went like a blast! Not the blast that paralyzed the city,
but a good blast. Like music is just good noise . Get it? The thing that made the party a blast
were the bombastic costumes of the people. Their creativity was mind blowing. Perhaps it
was the only occasion you could see the black swan smiling on stage, or three jokers roaming
around not wrecking havoc, even when batman wasn't around ( I so missed batman). It was
kind of living in a child's dream, although wolverine and those screaming ghosts belong in the
nightmare category. Hogwarts made a presence too, without magic though, so all we had close
to magical was Dumbledore's excessively large beard. Costumed people also got to walk the
stage, and the variety was amazing. Riding hood? Check. Red Indians? Check. Cinderella? Check.
Faizan Khalid? Double check (he was Cinderella's fairy god mother i presume). And just when
you thought that was it, there comes a mummy wrapped in toilet paper. People flocked to get near
it, though i can't say if they really liked the effort or just needed some thing to wipe their oily
hands on since dinner was served by then.

(Yes, we have another foody production at Chapter xD)
And there were performances too! The best no doubt was the flipping and rolling football on
the shoulders of Hassan Asim and Hunain. Then there was music. Though I'm still scratching
my head as to why the overly depressing song in the beginning, the other scores were perfectly
suited to the theme. And what party without some dance? That's right, none. And what dance
performance without riding imaginary horses? That's right, none. So we saw some shaking and
swinging and some riding, all equally entertaining.

(Oh our love for food is shown in the names we keep :D )
Perhaps all those imaginary horse riding really affected the behavior of general public, as was
depicted by the stampede that rose when dinner was served. No time to say bon appetite,
manners are for the weak, it seemed. People went berserk, as if this is the last time they'll
taste food. All this happened despite our headmistress's message. People ran frantically to get
their hands on pooris or daal or parathas or tikkas or kebabs. To add to the anomaly (which
this event was full of) the party went short of plates! Unlike normal parties where the food
supply goes short. But our dear headmistress resolved the problem and we all went home with
tummies full of food and hearts full of memories.

Here's to Chapter Tales! :)

And here's to our very 'girly' fairy with an afro! xD

Oh hey fairy :)
